Today she is nine.
Alex is beautiful and bright.
Fiery and funny. Complex and Cuddly.
Revels in attention,
Yet shy when she notices she’s been noticed.
Alex is activist and active.
Weird and wild. Interested and interesting.
Winces (whines) at injustice,
But occasionally incorrect about cause or intent.
She negotiates every judgement, and doggedly seeks answers to her questions.
All of them.
She loves music, she loves animals, she loves books, she loves us.
And we love her.
